In celebration of 2024 Black Music Month, Max and Spotify curated ‘Shaped by Sound,’ a one-day immersive music experience in NYC, where music meets innovation, to highlight all that Black Music is and its impact that goes beyond sonics.

Spelhouse Homecoming
Celebrating the 2023 homecoming season at Morehouse College, Max, Nike and HBCU Buzz partnered to create “Scene On The Yard” – an activation at the SpelHouse homecoming tailgate that spotlighted the Nike Yardrunners and the trailblazing alumni of Morehouse and Spelman.

CultureCon [2022, 2023, 2024, Creative Class]
CultureCon is a community conference where Black creative professionals and entrepreneurs can connect, learn and build together. Max partnered with both Creative Collective NYC and Team Epiphany to produce programming schedules inclusive of sneak peeks of upcoming content on Max, live DJ sets, performances, engaging talent panels, photo moments, giveaways, F&B and more.

Scene In Black x The Layout | Juneteenth
Max’s Scene in Black, an initiative celebrating Black stories, partnered with The Lay Out, a community and culture meet-up group in Brooklyn, NY, to celebrate Juneteenth.


Rap Sh!t Season 1 - ABFF + Premiere
In celebration of Issa Rae’s comedy series Max took over Miami and curated an experience that brought the Bad B*tch Renaissance to life.

Essence 2022
Scene In Black took over Nola with the SIB House; kicking things off with a celebration of Edward Buckles' Katrina Babies and continuing the festivities with the Rap Sh!t screening, panels and party.

InsecureFest 2021
For the fifth and final season of Insecure, Insecure Fest returned as an in-person event where cast, crew and hundreds of fans came together to say farewell to the show. Throughout the course of the five-hour event, over 900 attendees entered the space located behind LA’s own Hilltop’s Coffee and Kitchen located on Slauson Ave. Hosted by Crissle and Fran of the InsecuriTEA podcast, the day featured Black-owned vendors, immersive photo moments, musical performances, and an exclusive screening of the first episode of season 5.

Scene In Black Launch
To further celebrate the launch of Scene in Black, HBO Max hosted multi-market activations in select cities throughout the country, kicking off with Insecure Fest in Los Angeles and events in NYC and Chicago. Each hyper-local event experience featured food, merchandise, musical performances, and panel conversations exploring how empowered creatives continue to make their marks on and off screen.

A Black Lady Sketch Show Season 4
Season 4 of A Black Lady Sketch Show continued its legacy as an Emmy-winning, narrative comedy series featuring a core cast of Black women delivering smart, surreal, and culturally relevant sketches. Created by Robin Thede and produced by Issa Rae’s Hoorae, the season showcased sharp social commentary, standout guest stars, and genre-bending storytelling that celebrated the multidimensionality of Black womanhood.
